Why Timo Werner’s Ralf Rangnick comments could be good news for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho’s struggles

Jadon Sancho would join Manchester United back in July.

The winger is reported to have set The Red Devils back £73m.

At the time, Sancho’s signing seemed like a major coup. Man United were crying out for a natural right-winger and due to Sancho’s impressive stint in Germany with Dortmund, it seemed as though he was the man they needed to fix this issue.

Sancho would score 16 and assist 20 in just 38 outings for Borussia Dortmund during the 2020/21 season before netting 20 and assisting 20 in 44 games the campaign prior.

So, given his price-tag and previous impressive form, expectations were no doubt high once the 21-year-old signed for Man United.

So far, however, it is fair to say that Sancho has not enjoyed the best of starts to life back in England.

Werner comments show Rangnick could help Sancho

Granted, he did final notch his first goal contribution for Manchester United earlier this week when he scored vs Villarreal:

But even so, one goal and no assists in 15 outings is still nowhere near the standards Sancho has set for himself, with the player clearly struggling to adapt to Manchester United under the current regime.

However, Ralph Rangnick is expected to take charge of United for the rest of the season soon.

On the back of this news, some comments on the part of Chelsea’s Timo Werner have emerged. The German would previously ply his trade at RB Leipzig, working with Rangnick when he was both manager and a director with Leipzig.

And, when doing so, Werner spoke about how the German helped him out when he was struggling:

“Both [Ralph Hasenhuttl and Rangnick] gave me the feeling I was not alone in this situation. It allowed me to concentrate on my game and not worry about other things.”

On the back of these comments, Man United fans are no doubt hopeful Rangnick can have a similar impact on Jadon Sancho.
