Phil Neville’s six-month process to turn Inter Miami around

Phil Neville says his Inter Miami side finally understand what it takes to be a successful team, marking the end of a six-month building process at the club.

Former England international Neville signed a two-year contract with the Herons in January following a nearly-three-year spell in charge of the England Women’s National Team.

Neville struggled to adjust to life in MLS, winning just two of his opening 12 games in charge, culminating in a six-game losing run between 22 May and 22 July.

But since then, the penny seems to have dropped and the Herons have lost just one of their last 10 games – picking up six wins and climbing up to ninth in the Eastern Conference during that time, with only two points now separating them from the playoff spots.

Neville admits it took six months for him to truly convey his methods to his squad, who are finally playing as a team rather than a group of individuals.
