Ryan Hollingshead signs new LAFC contract through 2025 MLS season

LAFC defender Ryan Hollingshead has secured his future at the club with a new long-term contract.

Hollingshead’s new deal will keep him at Banc of California Stadium through the 2025 MLS season, having previously signed a one-year contract at the start of 2022.

“We are incredibly excited to come to terms with Ryan on an extension as he played a critical role in our 2022 championship campaign. He is among the top fullbacks in the league, and we are confident he will contribute to further success at LAFC,” co-president and general manager John Thorrington said in a club press release.

“We are proud to have Ryan, his wife Taylor, and their children as part of the LAFC family. I also want to thank his representative, Shaun Higgins, for his professionalism throughout the process.”

As Thorrington said, Hollingshead played a key role in LAFC’s MLS Cup and Supporters’ Shield double. Following a 30-game, six-goal regular season, the 31-year-old defender played every minute of the Black and Gold’s Playoffs campaign and even scored in their penalty shootout win over the Philadelphia Union at MLS Cup.

Prior to joining LAFC, Hollingshead – who can play right across the defensive line – spent seven years with FC Dallas, playing over 200 games in all competitions and helping the Texas club to a US Open Cup and Supporters’ Shield double in 2016.
