Arsenal see off Newcastle
Arsenal would face off with Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
The Magpies began matchweek 13 sat dead bottom of the English top-flight and as the only side of the 20 PL clubs to have not won a single game this term.
As a result, though Arsenal lost 4-0 vs Liverpool last time out, they still likely fancied their chances of getting back to winning ways this weekend.
However, Eddie Howe’s side actually proved a pretty tough nut to crack inside the first 45, with a Martin Odegaard free-kick and a huge miss from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the only noteworthy takeaways from the first half.
Arsenal, though, came out in a much more aggressive fashion in the second 45 and eventually took the lead when Emile Smith Rowe, Nuno Tavares and Bukayo Saka combined to smash home the opener 56 minutes in.

Gabriel Martinelli then came off the bench and netted Arsenal’s second of the day 11 minutes later to ensure the victory.
Mikel Arteta’s 12-month
Following the win over Newcastle, a demand Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta made 12 months ago has come to light.
Speaking last November, the Spaniard stated:
“We have to make the Emirates a fortress. It’s a completely different feeling playing at home with our without fans, it’s not the same but it’s what we have at the moment and we need a win on Sunday for sure.”

And, following the north Londoners’ win over Newcastle this past weekend, it is fair to say this has happened.
Arsenal’s only loss at home this season would come to current league leaders Chelsea back in August.
Elsewhere, they have beaten Norwich, AFC Wimbledon, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Leeds, Watford and now Newcastle whilst also drawing with Crystal Palace.
The Gunners’ away form has been slightly less impressive, but it is still fair to say that the Emirates, as Arteta demanded, has become something of a fortress to Arsenal.
