Manchester United’s stance on Ralf Rangnick making January signings

Revealed: Manchester United’s stance on Ralf Rangnick making January signings

Ralf Rangnick takes the reins

Manchester United have wasted little time in finding a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The club confirmed on Monday that Ralf Rangnick, known by most for his impressive work with the Red Bull clubs (Leipzig and Salzburg), is set to become their interim manager for the remainder of this season and will then transition into a consultancy role for another two years:

Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager until the end of the season, subject to work visa requirements. Following this period, Ralf and the club have agreed that he will continue in a consultancy role for a further two years.

Now, with Rangnick expected to be in charge very soon, question marks have remained over whether the German will be allowed to make signings in the upcoming January window.

With a new manager expected to come in during the summer, the club may not wish for Rangnick to bring his players in, only for a new boss to then possibly not like how they play.

But, given Rangnick has a pretty impressive track record of signing players  – Sadio Mane, Erling Haaland, Timo Werner and Naby Keita to name a few – United would probably be foolish to prevent the German from having his say in the winter window.

And, according to the Express, Man United are seemingly open to letting Rangnick spend in January:

Manchester United have decided that Ralf Rangnick will be handed a transfer budget in January despite only appointing the German on an interim basis
