Things got rather heated in the Sky Sports studio on Sunday evening, as a lengthy debate surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo broke out in the aftermath of Chelsea’s meeting with Manchester United.

Jorginho cancels out Sancho

The final, and most high-profile Premier League fixture of the weekend of course played out a short time ago.

In a battle between two heavyweights enduring altogether contrasting campaigns to date, Chelsea welcomed Manchester United to Stamford Bridge, hopeful of restoring their 3-point advantage atop the English top-flight table.

When all was said and done, however, Thomas Tuchel’s men, to the widespread surprise of those in attendance in west London, failed to get the job done.

After Jorginho’s needless mistake early in the 2nd-half opened the door for Jadon Sancho to put United in front, the Italian’s subsequent spot-kick strike 20 minutes from time only proved enough to secure a share of the spoils.

CR7 debate

As alluded to above, though, in the aftermath of the action coming to a close on Sunday evening, it was not the game itself which proved the main talking point amongst the pundits in the Sky Sports studio.

Instead, this came in the form of Michael Carrick’s shock decision to drop Cristiano Ronaldo to the bench for the clash.

Roy Keane, evidently of the opinion that the Portuguese should always be included from the off on such high-profile occasions, therefore made his frustrations known post-match.

Jamie Carragher, however, quickly challenged the Irishman’s view on the matter, culminating in a heated debate between the one-time Manchester United and Liverpool stars:
